PM reprimands GLCs, private sector for prioritising English over BM

Top state leader Ismail Sabri Yaakob has condemned government offices, government-connected organizations and the private area for focusing on the utilization of English over Bahasa Melayu at their occasions, gatherings, and meetings, and on their items.

Ismail told these offices and firms to utilize Bahasa Melayu generally in programs coordinated by them, as per a Harian Metro report.

The Umno VP said it was their obligation to maintain the poise of the Malay language, as nobody could do that separated from individuals of the land.

“It has turned into a pattern to not utilize Bahasa Melayu in programs coordinated by the private area, and even by GLCs and government agencies.Even at gatherings held by government organizations and GLCs, English is utilized. Indeed, it has become normal for Bahasa Melayu not to be utilized for the names of organizations, lodging projects and marks.

“I trust that at each gathering, meeting and other related occasions Bahasa Melayu will be utilized,” he said, subsequent to administering the current year’s Bahasa Melayu Public Speaking Competition at Dewan Sultan Iskandar, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia the previous evening.
